Questions I’ve been asking include:

• What happens when we fully recognise certain images of Black women (like Black Madonnas) as all powerful divine apparitions, rather than simply secular ‘representational images’?

• What happens when we recognise Black Madonnas across Europe as miraculous apparitions of Ochun, at the heart of the diaspora?

• What happens if we allow ourselves to be gently possessed – for the divine to be within us, accompanying us?
